When I first started to think about what to say, I wrote down some pretty crazy stuff! Thank goodness I didn’t just go with my initial ideas, as it would have been a complete disaster. I needed some real help at times to understand Groom speeches and how to create a successful one.
Really good Groom speeches make sure that no-one is left out, from the oldest guest to the very youngest. If you make everyone feel important, then you won’t go too far wrong. It took me a while to realise this, but basically a successful wedding day all boils down to keeping everyone happy!
Who do you say thank you too? When writing your speech, it is advisable to thank all the key people who have had a big impact on your life. This could include your Best Man, friends, colleagues, teachers and your beautiful Bride of course! Also, say a few choice words about the Father of the Bride, as he will no doubt have a few things to say about you as well. You should make a place in the speech to thank him personally before continuing with the rest of it.
One really good idea is to incorporate the story about how you first met your lovely Bride. This something that the best Groom speeches always seem to have and it will go down really well with all the guests who have travelled to be there on the day. Then I would suggest that you spend a moment to share a little about your family and the importance of them in your life. Whilst your Wedding is a key day in the lives of you and your Bride, it is also an important moment in that of your families too. This is a great opportunity to really show them how much you care about them and that they still have a major role to play in your new lives.
Remember, the Wedding Day symbolises the love and commitment to your bride, but it is also about family and the love for them and friends around you. To be honest, I was really nervous about the wedding speech, but it didn’t take me long to realise that the best Groom speeches always include these element, because they have been proven to work! You can please everybody if you’re careful!
